It’s something that so many of us think about as we face the holiday season-how can I lose a few kilos before the holiday’s start? With all of the fun occasions, it’s no wonder that we all want to look our best. With that comes the desire to lose a few kilos and feel good in the process. As you work to lose a few kilos, start by taking a look at what you are doing, and what you can change.
One key area to look at is your nutrition, and how often you are eating. If you are depriving yourself or skipping meals, then this can have an adverse effect on your metabolism. Rather than losing weight (or weight loss) you may actually end up gaining weight. Replace any deprivation with fuel-that means eating smaller meals, more frequently throughout the day and NEVER deprive yourself. Concentrating on the proper way of eating good nutrition can help a lot in weight loss.
Beware of things that can creep up and add weight. You may want to consider paying closer attention to what you eat and drink. Start by removing any sugary beverages as they are just empty calories. Limit your alcohol and learn to really decipher when something (as innocent as a beverage) can hurt you. Cut out the processed food too, because even if it seems like a ‘diet’ or ‘low fat’ option, that doesn’t mean that it will be better for weight loss, in the long run. Focus on eating whole and natural foods, and limit the refined sugar or white flour that may be prominent in your diet. You won’t be tempted to eat sugary snacks or eat more than you need to feel full (at any one sitting) and this is key. Focus on healthy eating, on good and proper nutrition, and combine all of this with challenging workouts. This is a great healthy regimen to lose weight leading up to any festive or holiday season.
